Hip Hop 1

Tuesday 5 pm-6 pm

Description: an all-encompassing approach to hip hop genre dance and culture.

Students gain a beginning understanding of what hip hop is, where it came from and what it stands for. The skills obtained are varied across the board: footwork, balance, agility, attitude, popping, locking, tutting, etc. with a little possible something from other genres.  Students learn the basics of rhythm, counting music, awareness of surroundings and teamwork.

Ages: approx. 4-7

Hip Hop 2

Tuesday 6 pm-7 pm

Master Deviation

Tuesday 7 pm-8 pm

Description: Covers technique from ballet, contemporary, lyrical, modern, hip hop, jazz and more.

This is considered a Master Class and students are held to a higher standard of focus and respect.

Ages: 7 and up

Cultural Dance

Thursday 7 pm-8 pm

Description: Indian, African, Latin, and other cultural immersions

Ages: 7 and up

Instructors: Pabitra Kumar Raut, Meghna Rao, Sara Almaraz + guest choreographers

Adult Dance

Thursday 7 pm-8 pm

Description: Varied genres, all skill levels welcome (no, it’s not awkward.)

Street Funk Breakdance

Saturday 10 am-12 pm

Description: Street dance styles from 80s to present: break, pop, lock, footwork, freestyle, etc.

Students will receive a foundation of bboy/girl knowledge including the history, purpose and potential of this artform and the culture it breathes in. You will receive training in basic and advanced breakdance techniques as well as tumbling and trick coaching.

*New students welcome the first 3 weeks of September, January and May only.

Ages: 7 and up

Step Inn Performance Team

Thursdays 5 pm-7 pm
Saturday 12 pm-2 pm

Description: high commitment level, skill guaranteed to increase

These are the serious dancers/performers that are held to a higher standard b/c they have chosen to do so. Grades must be up, diet must be controlled (for wellness not cosmetic purpose), and discipline level is high. Multiple public performances, multiple genres covered but strong ‘hip hop’ focus. Leveling system to include periodic testing.

Skills to increase: physical dance ability, flexibility, tumbling, teamwork, awareness of surroundings, professionalism, accountability, respect, and most importantly, the greatest focus: SELF-ESTEEM AND -VALUE.
